Governance at Wouldham All Saints Church of England Primary School
The purpose of governance at Wouldham All Saints Church of England Primary School is to provide confident, strategic leadership while creating robust accountability, oversight, and assurance for both educational and financial performance. From September 2024 the board resolved to conduct all its business collectively, opting for a unified approach rather than employing committees. Key to this structure are the Department for Education (DfE)-identified individual delegated governor roles, which include safeguarding, special educational needs and disability (SEND), and for Kent County Council (KCC) maintained schools: finance and health and safety. These individuals will report back on their findings alongside designated monitoring pairs, ensuring a focused approach to school improvement priorities.
The board is guided by three strategic core functions: ensuring clarity of vision, ethos, and strategic direction; holding the headteacher and leaders accountable for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, including the effective and efficient management of staff; and overseeing the financial performance of the organisation, ensuring prudent expenditure of funds.
The full governing body convenes six times a year in addition to school monitoring visits, collaborating closely with staff to ensure progress towards our strategic goals as outlined in the school improvement plan. To facilitate effective and supportive governance, we maintain a friendly and open atmosphere at our meetings, promoting idea-sharing and enriching discussions.
Our governors pride themselves on their diverse backgrounds, which allow us to draw from a wealth of skills and expertise. This diversity, combined with a shared commitment to the pupils and staff, is a key factor in our success.
It is important to note that no members of staff at Wouldham All Saints Church of England Primary School earn in excess of £100,000.
