Music is a fundamental part of our school life. We have lots of talented pupils- and staff too! Our pupils learn to play a wide range of instruments and get the opportunity to perform in school and at other venues. |
We work closely with our Peripatetic teachers ( who share our school values and passion) and together we have made music a significant part of our school community . Lots of children enjoy performing in our regular concerts and we would love it if every child who is interested in learning an instrument is able to take up the opportunity. Children learning an instrument advance much more rapidly when practising regularly at home and so owning or hiring an instrument should be seen as an essential part of their learning. This obviously needs bringing to school on the day of the lesson! We may be able to help source some instruments so please get in touch if you need help with this.
Here are some of the instruments that you can learn in school:
Violin, Guitar- Mr Kim James
Drums- Mr Jack Sayer
Singing - Phoebe Brooks
Brass and Woodwind - Mrs Bev Prankard
If you would like to learn an instrument in school, even one that is not listed above- please let us know!
There are opportunities for group lessons as well as 1:1
Generally music lessons have a cost and this is dependent on the teacher and the type of lesson required - eg 1 to 1 piano is more expensive than a recorder group lesson. Costs are available on request from the office.
