Statement of Intent
At Wouldham All Saints Church of England Primary School, our vision for language is for all children to become confident communicators; enabling the whole child to live their life in all its fullness.
A love of reading is central in our approach to teaching English. We believe that immersing children in rich, high-quality texts, results in more confident and creative writers.
Teachers take every opportunity to engage children with these rich texts, not only during daily story time sessions, but across the curriculum.
Whilst grammar, punctuation and spelling are taught discretely, avid readers tend to make better spellers and writers – so as you can see, a love of reading is key.
How can I best help my child? The best way to help your child with their English is to instil a love of reading in your house.
